Inspired by the clandestine spirit of the underworld liquor market during prohibition in the early 1900s, Prohibition Liquor Co embodies the same small batch artisanal ethos as many of the illegal gin dens once did. Luckily, it's all above board now and the team have built a home for themselves in the middle of Adelaide CBD.
Whilst initially their gins were contract distilled at the nearby Applewood Distillery, the team are now armed with a 900L copper pot still and distillation now takes place in-house.
This 2023 Release Christmas Gin is made by macerating the distillery's signature dry gin with cherries, figs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, a touch of anise and vanilla to add softness. With a sweeter profile than a straight gin, this is tending towards a gin liqueur but still boasts a fair bit of oomph at 38% ABV.
Each bottle of Christmas Gin is packed in an individual rose gold gift box.
