Description
We teamed up with two Australian distilleries to distill a few new-make spirits (un-aged whiskies). They're great starting blocks for developing into fine whiskies by pairing with an American Oak Cask. To be honest, they're also quite delicious to drink neat, and if you're creative you'll find ways to mix them into cocktails.
In an ideal world we would have bottled these in neat 1 litre eco-friendly containers so you can grab five to fill a 5L cask or ten for a 10L cask. Unfortunately plastic and high proof spirits don't tend to like each other too much, so we've up-cycled old 700mL glass bottles for the task instead.
Single Malt Cask Strength (700mL)
This Single Malt Cask Strength clocks in at roughly 60% ABV (exact ABV varies slightly by batch) is made by Belgrove Distillery in Tasmania. It's made from malted barley wash and double distilled in a pot still directly heated by an oil furnace. No filtering = full of character.
Peated Single Malt Cask Strength (700mL)
Our Peated Single Malt Cask Strength is also a Belgrove Distillery creation and clocks in anywhere between 60 to 68% ABV depending on the batch. This spirit is made from grains smoked with peat from a local Tasmanian peat bog. Very unique and our personal favourite, but Belgrove don't make this very often so it's always in short supply.
Corn Spirit (700mL)
This Corn Spirit is 43% ABV and made by Whipper Snapper Distillery in Western Australia. It comprises locally grown corn, malted barley and wheat from the WA wheat belt and makes a fantastic base for creating Bourbon style whiskies.
